A white supremacist bomber just accidentally blew himself up

A white supremacist bomber just accidentally blew himself up

A homemade explosive laboratory hidden inside a Minnesota apartment has blown up, killing the 28-year-old white male occupant. When they arrived on the scene, investigators discovered white supremacist literature in the wreckage, reported The Associated Press.

Two rifles, a pistol, a bullet-proof vest and helmet, as well as a large stockpile of ammunition were found alongside 13 jars containing dangerous explosive chemicals. The bombmaker, Benjamin Douglas, studied chemistry in college. Maybe he should have studied a little harder.

While Douglas’s full plans have yet to be determined, it seems likely, given the facts so far, that he intended to carry out bombings in the name of white supremacy. People like this have been emboldened by Trump’s tacit embrace of Neo-Nazis and Confederate apologists, and they’re turning increasingly dangerous.

Luckily no one other than the would-be bomber died. Authorities, unfortunately, had to burn down the building to destroy the volatile chemicals inside. Numerous families lost their homes because of the necessary action. The incident demonstrates that even when they fail to kill, white supremacists destroy their local communities.

The news comes just a few weeks after the bomber who was terrorizing and murdering people in the Austin, Texas area killed himself as police closed in on him. Domestic terrorism poses a real threat to the American people, specifically radical right-wing terrorism. Unfortunately, we are saddled with a cowardly, racist president who refuses to confront the problem and spends all of his time railing against minorities.
