Fox News finally just addressed the Hannity-Trump lawyer scandal, and their response is disgusting

Though Fox News is notoriously quick to pass and air judgment without proper fact-checking, when scandal rocks their own studios they are decidedly more calculating. Almost 24 hours after a bombshell admission that Trump lawyer Michael Cohen was giving secret legal representation to Sean Hannity, Fox News has finally offered up a response – and it leaves much to be desired.

The network admitted in a statement that it was “unaware” of Hannity’s connection to Cohen. When faced with the enormous conflict of interest presented by Hannity’s near constant coverage of the Trump presidency’s legal woes Fox News has decided to terminate Sean Hannity turn a blind eye.

“While FOX News was unaware of Sean Hannity’s informal relationship with Michael Cohen and was surprised by the announcement in court yesterday, we have reviewed the matter and spoken to Sean and he continues to have our full support,” Fox acknowledged in its statement.

Last week, after news broke that the FBI had raided Michael Cohen’s home, hotel room, and Trump Tower office in connection with the potentially fraudulent $130,000 hush payment Cohen made to Trump’s former mistress Stephanie “Stormy Daniels” Clifford, Hannity seemed a bit extra unsettled as he screeched incoherently to his hoard of braindead followers.

On Monday, it was revealed that Hannity’s meltdown was in response to the likelihood that documents incriminating Hannity (though the capacity remains a mystery) were collected during the FBI’s raid. Todd Harrison, Cohen’s lawyer in the proceedings, requested time to review the documents prior to the FBI’s inspection to protect another “publicly prominent individual.”

After the presiding judge denied his request, he also commanded Harrison to reveal the third person’s name, placing Hannity in the spotlight.

Hannity hastily took to Twitter after the news went public, and issued a strong denial of the admission Harrison delivered under oath:

Hannity further elaborated that the discussions were primarily about real estate, presumably to house the Russian orphans Jared Kushner and Don Jr. discussed with Sergey Kisliak in Trump Tower last summer.

Critics were quick to slam Hannity for failing to disclose such important information, though members of his network (including normally level-headed Shep Smith) were quick to rush to his defense.

With Fox News’ official endorsement of Hannity, they’ve taken on step closer to state-sponsored news. Maybe it’s time for David Hogg to launch another protest.
