Trump just accused the NY Times of lying about him. The Times’ response is perfect

- 10.20

President Trump took to Twitter this morning to rage once more against the New York Times for accurately reporting on a story about him.

On Monday, the New York Times reported that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating a payment of $150,000 made to the Donald J. Trump Foundation by powerful Ukrainian billionaire, Victor Pinchuk in September 2015 for a 20-minute speech by Trump, which was delivered over the Skype messaging service.

Such a vast sum of money for such little work would raise anyone’s eyebrows, and when one considers how brazenly Donald Trump has used his “charitable” foundation to launder “donation” money right into his pocket, it’s hard to see this as anything other than a bribe from a pro-Russian foreign businessman – an issue certainly worthy of investigation against a man accused of colluding with foreign powers to tilt the election in his favor.

President Trump, on the other hand, is notorious for lashing out when he knows he’s guilty – and today’s Twitter rant makes it very clear that he doth protest far too much.

Unperturbed by the President’s angry words, the New York Times cooley fired back and stood by their team in the face of a flailing and desperate would-be despot.

Considering how often this kind of exchange happens, it’s clear at this point that the president’s protests are nothing more than a smokescreen to reassure his voters that he’s correct and to feed his own persecution complex – but none of that is going to matter when the Special Counsel comes calling with indictments.
