Trump just attacked Elizabeth Warren’s heritage at a rally. Her response is going viral

President Trump again used the racial slur of “Pocahontas” – that he first labeled Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) during the 2016 presidential campaign – to taunt her today but she quickly responded with a classy tweet that put the egotistical braggart in his place.

Before we get to her tweet, here is what Trump said today.

During his rally in Great Falls, Montana today, Trump said that if he runs against Sen. Warren in the 2020 election, during one of their debates he will offer to give $1 million to a charity if she takes a DNA test to prove that she is really of native American heritage.

“I promise you I’ll do this,” Trump told the hyper partisan crowd, “you know those little kits they sell on television for $2? ‘Learn your heritage.'”

“I’m going to get one, of those little kits” Trump continued, “and in the middle of the debate, when she proclaims she’s of Indian heritage – because her mother said she has high cheekbones – that’s her only evidence. We will take that little kit, we have to do it gently because were in the #MeToo generation, we have to be very gentle.”

Trump mocked the movement and his plan to toss the kit at the Senator.

“We will very gently take that kit and we will slowly toss it,” added Trump, “hoping it doesn’t hit and injure her arm, even though it only weighs probably two ounces.”

“And we will say, ‘I will give you a million dollars, paid for my Trump, to your favorite charity if you take the test and it shows you’re an Indian.'”

“And we’ll see what she does,” he said. “I have a feeling she will say no but we will hold it for the debates.”

Trump’s childish taunts didn’t seem to phase Sen. Warren, who coolly returned fire with a tweet that addresses a much more serious issue – how undocumented children are being treated – even after Trump signed an executive order reversing his own inhumane policy.

Warren is referring to the hundreds or thousands of small children taken from their parents by ICE who were sent to detention centers many miles away without any proper paperwork or a way to keep track of where they were when it was time to reunite them.

That time is now because the Trump administration is under an order form a federal judge to reunite the families with a month.

While Trump is basking in the adulation of the Montana crowd that is part of what he calls his “base,” Warren is focused on the issues of life and death impacting real people.

All that Trump’s insulting use of the name of an Indian literary character and his offer to pay $1 million does is remind us of his baseless claim that President Obama was not born in the U.S. – what was known as the “birther movement” – which even later he had to admit was completely false.

It also is a reminder of the 2014 lawsuit that was filed by Trump’s personal attorney, the now notorious Michael Cohen, against comic Bill Maher because the comedian refused to make good on a joke he made on NBC’s The Tonight Show – offering Trump $5 million to show his birth certificate to prove he’s not the “spawn of his mother having sex with orangutan.”

Maher laughed at Trump’s suit, which showed that the man who would be president had no sense of humor, something we have all been forced to recognize since January 2017.

“This is known as parody,” Maher said on his HBO show Real Time, “and it’s a form of something we in the comedy business call a joke,.

“Just like we’re the gun country, we’re the joke country,” added Maher. “We love our free speech and we love celebrities getting taken down a peg.”

“So Don,” lectured Maher, “just suck it up like everybody else.”

Cohen, on Trump’s behalf, ultimately withdrew the lawsuit.

At that time the joke was on Trump. But since he has been president, the joke has been on the American people.

That was clear again today with his reference to the dedicated, professional, serious Sen. Warren.

It is not funny, and it is not worthy of the person who has the honor of living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
