Trump just attacked LeBron James on Twitter. Dan Rather’s response is all of us

- 11.25

Last night, Trump set Twitter alight by launching a verbal assault on two of America’s most respected black individuals.

The president obviously spent his Friday night watching CNN, the network he claims to loathe and the one on which Don Lemon conducted an interview of the most celebrated athlete in the NBA, LeBron James. At the end of the interview, there was one question in particular that seemed to have gotten under Trump’s thin skin.

Our insecure Commander-in-Chief wasted no time pounding his fists on the internet.

Legendary newsman Dan Rather couldn’t help but weigh in, bemoaning the fact that the President of the United States would continue to engage in such glaringly juvenile discourse. Disappointing, that is, but not surprising.

Rather rightly reflects on the fact that while LeBron just opened a new $8 million public school, where students get free bikes, meals, and college tuition, Trump is still dealing with the fallout from his ongoing human rights catastrophe of separating children from their parents at the border and then putting them in cages. Even despite a federal judge’s mandate to reunite the families ripped apart by the administration, hundreds of children remain separated from their parents. This may not be the best time for Trump to compare virtuousness.

Even the CNN host took the opportunity to lambast the most insecure man in America.

While his base might devour another baseless attack on a black man, the president might be well served to curb his racist drivel, as this is the definition of punching above one’s weight.
